A term coined by journalist Tom Wolfe
As we flicker about our phones, time has elapsed But yielded the same existential frustrations
Yet the mode of the culture has shifted while it has passed
I believe we live in the ‘look at me generation’
Our products and outlets and outlooks Combat
The simple grind to get the spoils of any battle
Because our focus and obsession with getting attention has surpassed
The owning of that car or the winning like a star
There’s a need to know the frequency of a glow And to tell Facebook where you are
When you wish upon a star you need more than 30 likes by far
Branding and standing in a selfie with your bestie And the tattoo without a scar
These are all a few of our favorite things Provided it’s in the right filter you needed thus far
And it’s just what it is. I’m no critic. I’m just a guy
I don’t use social media but not to be the guy Who doesn’t use social media and then tell you why It’s all better than no communication Though it can be fast, frequent, flashy And you feel you must comply
Because there are billions posting a Gif or for any myriad of reasons A mascot like the monopoly guy
Just to say “hey world, look into my eye”.

Cognitive Distenance: the distance far between agreeing or being on the same page as you and the person you're trying to look smarter than. Contrasting beliefs with reality, the person in question is faced with being single (after you two broke up) however, reality is they have a new partner, said partner is the one they cheated on you wiff, the original craigslist apt wrecker.
I mean, everything is relative... so, as a 20 something, objectivity is relative. Go crazy? YT Music time 😎 Why is it that when ppl go apples to apples crazy, they deadass can't accept anything except YT Music? It's a hassle b/c you're sending the "pls chill" "good vibes" L song and they won't access it
